The change of seasons always affects my skin. While summer air is more humid and moisture-rich, the cold, dry air in fall and winter leaves our skin dehydrated, flaky and rough. This body scrub recipe from Mountain Rose Herbs is simple to make and leaves skin glowing and feeling lightly refreshed. The soft vanilla bean kisses your skin with a hint of fragrance and luxurious honey helps to moisturize, nourish, and protect the skin with its antioxidant, antimicrobial, and humectant properties. This scrub also makes a lovely handmade holiday gift!
- 1 cup fine organic sea salt or fine organic sugar
- ½ cup organic sweet almond oil
- ¼ cup raw organic honey
- 1 organic vanilla bean, split and scraped
- 10 drops organic peppermint essential oil
- 1 teaspoon organic vanilla extract (optional)
Note: Sea salt and sugar are both exfoliating, however they each offer different benefits. Salts tend to be a bit more abrasive and are great for removing dead skin, impurities, and toxins while sugar is nice for gentle exfoliation.
Mix the sea salt or sugar with the oils, scraped vanilla bean pulp, and honey. Add essential oil and stir. If too oily, add more salt or sugar until you reach the desired consistency. Scoop into a jar with the split vanilla bean on the bottom for a decorative touch and screw the lid on tightly.
