Non Toxic Shop™ Synergy Skin Care Review & Giveaway

September 12, 2012

Many companies with “natural” products on the market today focus on telling you what toxic ingredients they don’t contain, instead of revealing the toxic ingredients they do contain.  This is known as greenwashing.  For example, some companies will label their products paraben-free but use an alternative preservative such as phenoxyethanol which is almost as toxic as using parabens!

The best way to ensure you are purchasing truly non-toxic cosmetics and skin care products is by visiting the Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep Cosmetics Database and reading ingredients.  While visiting the database I discovered The Non Toxic Shop which sells Australian made natural skin care products for the entire family.

The Non Toxic Shop keeps it natureal by:

  • Only using naturally derived or certified organic ingredients (that are truly non-toxic).
  • Not testing on animals and is vegan-friendly.
  • Using eco-friendly recyclable packaging.

Their mission is to help reduce their impact on the environment and provide sustainable, non-toxic products at an affordable price.

I wanted to try a new skin care regimen and have been using the Synergy Skin Care line exclusively for the past 6 weeks.  My skin is thanking me for it.  These products feel really good and my skin is looking really good.  The Synergy line is infused with an all-star list of ingredients which work together to combat a myriad of skin concerns such as blemishes, free radicals, uneven skin tone, fine lines, loss of elasticity, pigmentation and sun damage.

I start my routine off with the Synergy Face Wash twice a day.  It works well on its own but I prefer putting a small amount on my Clarisonic electric face brush which makes a nice lather.  It removes make-up and dirt without drying my skin.

About 2-3 times a week I use a pump of the Synergy Micro-Refining Scrub in the evenings which is gentle enough for my sensitive skin, yet effective at exfoliating and helping to unclog my pores.  After rinsing it off  with tepid water, my skin feels silky smooth and has a nice glow!

Next I spritz my face with the  Synergy Toner which preps my skin for the next step.  Sometimes I spritz my face with the toner throughout the day to refresh my skin.

I follow up with the Synergy Moisturizer which is perfectly hydrating without leaving any greasiness behind.

In the evenings, I apply a pump of the Synergy Serum to my face, neck and eye area before moisturizing.  It’s jam-packed with ingredients such as Olive Oil, Coenzyme Q10, Resveratrol, Vitamin B3, Phospholipids, Sphingolipids, Colloidal Oatmeal, Arnica Extract, Cucumber Fruit Extract, Green Tea Leaf Powder, Ginseng Root Extract and Radish Root Extract.

The Non Toxic Shop is generously offering Natureal Mom readers 25% off ALL products until September 21, 2012.  Simply enter code “naturealmom” in the checkout : )

Also, one lucky Natureal Mom reader can win a Synergy Prize Pack containing the above pictured products valued at $130 USD!

I could not agree with you more! Even if I wear makeup, the first step to makeup is good skin! I feel that we often forget that our skin is our largest organ and we need to be cautious about what we put on it! I am a skincare lover and it is very difficult to find green, non-toxic, good-for-you products. Synergy Skin Care products look extremely promising and I am eager to fall in love with them! – Amber

I LOVE EWG & their Cosmetic Database – I’ve been referring to it religiously for the last 3+ years! It’s awesome that the worst The Non Toxic Shop rated is 1 there. I’ll definitely have to check out their line of products!

I am curious if you still love this line after having it for a couple months. i just found this company today but am hesitant to order because of the lack of reviews on the website. i am nursing and pregnant which has me extra mindful as to what i put on and in my body.

Yes, I still love this company and their products! They are the real deal when it comes to using quality ingredients that are free of toxic chemicals, being a safe choice for breastfeeding mamas and babes. I’ve only used the Synergy Skin Care Line so far but am going to try some of body products for myself and my toddler next. I might be partnering with Non Toxic Shop for another giveaway soon so stay tuned!

I checked out the products but they are so expensive, especially to ship to the US. I’m still looking to find products that are safe and affordable. Any other suggestions would be great.

Sevani Botanica and By Nieves both make great products. If you’re looking for something more affordable, I like Kiss My Face Pure Olive Oil Bar for face and body. You can also try making your own products using non toxic ingredients. If you aren’t already familiar with the EWG’s Skin Deep Cosmetics Database, it is a wonderful resource:

Interesting stuff!! It’ amazing how much new all natural and organic products are hitting the market. There is way too much product out there that are full of toxic chemicals. Any thoughts about an all natural hair removal product?

    • Reply Natureal Mom January 24, 2013 at 5:16 pm

Aside from shaving or plucking, there’s a few options. Sugaring is an one of the most natural methods of waxing. Threading and Tumeric paste are also non toxic methods women in India have been using for centuries.

Have you tried their body or eye products?
I’m keen to try the Anti Puffiness and Dark Circle Eye Lotion, but there are no customer reviews about it on the internet.

I was just wondering are these products good for my husband to use also? If I were only able to use the face wash and moisturizer, would that be good enough for my skin?

  • Reply Jody May 21, 2013 at 8:04 pm

And I forgot to ask, do the anti-oxidant, anit-bacterial, calming, and synergy all work equally well or is one better than the other?

    • Reply Natureal Mom May 22, 2013 at 9:30 pm

Hi Jody, I have only used the Synergy line but I really like it. I’m sure the other lines are also great, it just depends what type of skin you have. You can probably get away with just the face wash and moisturizer but if you can, I would also do the scrub or mask so you have an exfoliator in the mix as well. You’re husband can definitely use these products too… mine does!
